Healthy 7 Layer Fourth of July Dip

It's the fourth of July weekend! While I'm spending it rather lazily at home as I recuperate from a few weeks of busy, busy, busy - I'm still finding the time to have fun and be festive! With an impromptu visit from my brother, I decided to toss together a quick 'snacky' meal that we could all graze on throughout the day at our leisure.

Naturally, my first inclination was a 7 layer dip. I think that's because it's one of those things that has something it in that everyone likes! It's one perfect montage or mashup of everything I love. Plus, it's perfectly light and cool for a hot summer day. And of course, since it's around the 4th of July, you just know I had to arrange this dip into the shape of the American flag to be all the more cute and festive!...

The big football game of the year is coming up and being a native Texan, I couldn't be more excited for it. Every year, as you know, I'm always busy with nosh worthy big game style tailgating and home gating bites. This year won't be any different! In fact, it may only be amped up if my favorite team ends up playing.

These Skinny Chipotle Pepperoni Pinwheels are two of my most favorite things fused together to make one amazing finger food mash-up that's perfectly dipable and dunkable as a party appetizer or big game spread. Roasted Red Pepper Dip

As we get into the holidays, I'm all about speed and ease in which I make my meals. But, that doesn't mean that I have to sacrifice taste or the more wholesome options for myself or my family. This roasted red pepper dip is super tasty, easy to make, guilt-free, and is so versatile that you could eat it with any meal; breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Plus, it's not spicy at all, so the kiddos can enjoy it too!

This is definitely one of those things that you will find yourself putting on anything and everything. And, that's perfectly okay because that's what it's for! There's nothing but the good stuff loaded up into this red pepper dip. Roasted red peppers, onion, garlic, and plenty of course plenty of flavor...

I remember the first time I ever had a french dip sandwich. It was at this cute little diner in New Port, Oregon... I think it was called 'Big Guy's Diner', I must have been about 10 years old at the time. I thought it was so strange to have a sandwich served with broth. Why in the world would anyone want to dip their sandwich and have wet bread? My grandma talked me into trying it anyway. I did. And I've been hooked ever since...

Bruschetta

Want a little cheese to go with that wine? Why, yes I do! I'll take some bruschetta as well. And maybe a full on antipasti plate while you're at it.

It's been all too long since I posted much to pair with wine. One of my favorites from a while back was the Anatomy of a Cheese Plate, which gives a good break down of what all you could have available for a wine tasting or wine enthusiast sort of party. We live in an age of wine, people! My generation is said to drink nearly half of all the wine in the United States. That's a lot of wine for one generation. I guess we were all just raised right.

My inspiration for my antipasti tonight came from one of my dear grade-school friends over at Sweet Hersey Living. Her food and recipes always leave me drooling. She's truly one of the most creative people that I've ever known...
